John 1:14, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us,”
“Jesus doesn’t give us an illusion of identification!”
It happens during every election. Politicians do their best to make the public think they are just one of the people. They don the hard hat, stand on the assembly line, and pose for the cameras. But at the end of the photo shoot, they go back to their lives, separate from their constituents.
Unlike politicians, Jesus never gives an illusion that he identifies with us. The Bible tells us clearly that he became one of us. The fact that God put on flesh and became a living, breathing human is something that is hard for us to wrap our minds around. But that’s exactly what he did!
What does that mean for us?
There will be times when you feel like no one understands, that you’re alone with your struggles. But you can take comfort in knowing that Jesus understands exactly where you are, because he has been there. Remember Christ as you deal with your daily struggles, and know that he is the one person who truly understands.
Whatever you are facing in life, remember that Jesus can identify with you. So when you begin to think, “No one understands…,” just add two powerful words: “…like Jesus!”
Lord, thank you for coming to earth and experiencing the struggles of this life so that I can have hope. Keep teaching and guiding me so that I can be equipped to handle life’s problems. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
