2 Corinthians 10:12, “We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.”
“Wisdom helps us see ourselves the way God sees us. Nothing more. Nothing less.”
If someone came up to you and told you that you have a unique purpose, different from anyone else, would you believe them? It’s true. God has called each of us to a unique purpose. That is why God sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross so we could fulfill his purpose for our lives.
The real question is, when trials come, do you look to others to show you your purpose, or do you seek God’s approval first? It is easy to look for your value horizontally (from those around you) but when you have vertical value (from God) you begin to see the purpose he has planned for you.
If we are close to the right people, they will encourage us to seek God’s approval above their own. You may be rejected by some, but if you are accepted by One, you have all you need. Stay faithful and seek God’s approval above all else!
Seeking God’s approval first is not easy. It requires constant reminders and self-discipline. God is our true authority and we should always seek the applause from an audience of One! Today, make a concerted effort to look for his approval rather than other people in everything you do.
God, thank you for having a unique purpose for my life. I pray that you guide me on this journey and help me to seek you first in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
