Can You See It?
Read
Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Think
In a thought-provoking exchange, an atheist once questioned a Quaker, "Have you ever seen God? Have you ever felt God? Have you ever smelled God? And you say you have a God!" After a reflective pause, the Quaker responded with a question of his own, "Have you ever seen your brains? Have you ever felt your brains? Have you ever smelled your brains? And yet, you claim to possess intelligence!"
Have you ever noticed that the Bible does not attempt to prove the existence of God? It simply assumes his presence. However, for those who may still be hesitant to acknowledge the reality of God, there are several compelling avenues of proof.
The first avenue is nature, as articulated by Paul when he wrote, "His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead" (Romans 1:20). Yet, perhaps the most convincing path is that of testing the truth. Those who earnestly seek to please God and are willing to obey him will discover that their faith is firmly rooted in reality, as God rewards "those who diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). Assurance naturally follows faith. When we place our trust in Jesus as our Savior, his Spirit imparts to us the assurance that our faith is securely founded.
