Fool or Faith
Read:
Proverbs 1:7, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Think:
Do you want to be a fool, or do you want to be wise? Most of us would choose wisdom. The book of Proverbs offers wisdom on life, but it starts with the foundation of understanding— the fear of the Lord. Solomon, the author, wrote that true wisdom and discernment begin with a knowledge of the Lord.
Wisdom is more than the little strips of paper you get out of fortune cookies. Wisdom comes from God. As you read through the Book of Proverbs, you will find if you consistently obey God's rules, you will avoid painful consequences. You will experience an abundant life, no matter what your circumstances. It comes from listening and following His directions. You can follow God, reliant on the path He has chosen, or you can risk being a fool who despises God and does their own thing. What will you choose?
