I Am Not God
Read
Psalm 46:10 “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’”
Think
Do you ever find yourself being a bit particular? Maybe it’s about how your car gets washed, or the dishwasher is stacked. Some of us are easygoing and flexible, but we all have those little preferences deep down – like wanting our t-shirts folded a certain way or our toothpaste squeezed from the bottom instead of in the middle.
It’s normal to have preferences, but things can get messy when those preferences start to control us. Sometimes, our desire for control comes from feeling overworked and stressed, feeling like we have to do everything ourselves. But the truth is that letting go of control allows room for God to work in our lives. It’s a reminder that we’re not in charge and that trusting in God’s plan leads to genuine rest and peace.
So, maybe it’s time to humble ourselves, open our Bibles, and remember that God knows what’s best. Releasing control is just one of the many ways we make room for growth and allow God to lead us on the path to true fulfillment.

Identify specific areas of your life where you tend to exert control rather than trust in God’s sovereignty. What does it look like to trust him in those areas?
Pray
Lord, forgive me for the times when I have prioritized my preferences over your will and care for others. Please help me to surrender my need for control and submit myself fully to your guidance and direction. Teach me to trust in your unfailing love and wisdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
