I Need Jesus
Read:
Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
Think:
Parenthood can be a challenging journey filled with unexpected difficulties. It can feel like we are experiencing Incredible Hulk moments – where anger and frustration seem to take over. Despite our best intentions to be selfless, we can find ourselves battling against our own selfish desires.
In these moments, we may feel discouraged and frustrated. We may dream of being like Mary Poppins, but feel like we fall short. However, God uses parenthood as a mirror to reveal our need for him. As Psalm 119:11 says, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." When we hide God's Word in our hearts, we gain the wisdom and guidance we need to overcome our struggles as parents.
Rather than feeling defeated by our shortcomings as parents, we can lean on God's Word to guide us. We can trust in his provision and seek his help when we feel overwhelmed. Through the challenges of parenthood, we can grow in our faith and deepen our dependence on him. God uses parenthood to shape us into the parents he has called us to be, strengthening our character and molding us into his likeness.
Apply:
Depend on Jesus actively. When you are frustrated, call out to him. Take a step back, if needed, and count to 10.
Pray:
God, I need your guidance as I am parenting my children your way. Help me as I direct their steps and lead me in wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
