Spreading the Good News
Read:
Matthew 28:19-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Think:
Contemplate times when you faced seemingly overwhelming tasks. How did they turn out in the end? Likely, once completed, they weren't as difficult as you initially thought, and you felt a sense of accomplishment.
In this passage, Jesus sets a challenging task before us. At first glance, it might seem overwhelming. But it doesn’t require that you be a biblical scholar or move to another country. Instead, everyday interactions — at work, school, the gym, or even the grocery store — can be opportunities to share God's work in your life. When we seek to be an active listener and an empathetic friend, God will give us opportunities to spiritually encourage those who don't yet know Christ.
Apply:
Who do you encounter in your everyday life who may not know Christ? Be intentional today about taking time to ask questions, actively listen and extend empathy. Watch for doors that God opens for you to share your spiritual story.
Pray:
Dear God, I am humbled to be a part of your divine plan. Help me to see those around me with your eyes and give me the courage to take advantage of every opportunity to share your love and hope. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
