Think
In the Book of Hebrews, a significant shift occurs between chapters 10 and 11. In chapter 10, the author emphasizes the faithfulness of God, highlighting his unwavering commitment. As we move into chapter 11, the focus shifts to our own faithfulness. This chapter has earned the affectionate nickname, “the faith chapter."
Within the pages of Hebrews 11, we find clear examples of what true faith entails. To place our faith in God means that we trust him. Faith is the substance, or the confidence, of what we hope for. The author here is saying that living out our faith is foundational for the Christian life. Faith is the foundation and the confidence, the substance for our faith is Jesus. He has proven himself faithful throughout time; we can stand firm because we trust the foundation.
