True Success
Read:
Ezekiel 12:7 “And I did as I was commanded. I brought out my baggage by day, as baggage for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my own hands. I brought out my baggage at dusk, carrying it on my shoulder in their sight.”
Think:
Mother Teresa said, “I am not called to be successful. I’m called to be faithful.” Accomplishment is certainly not a negative thing. Nobody desires to be labeled a failure. However, the real challenge lies in how we define and pursue success. Interestingly, God's perspective on success often diverges sharply from that of humanity.
When the Lord instructed Ezekiel to warn the rebellious Israelites of their impending exile, he provided the prophet with odd instructions. Ezekiel was to pack a bag for the exile and then dig through a wall while carrying his belongings. Additionally, he was to cover his face, symbolically blocking his view of his cherished homeland. How did Ezekiel respond to this unusual task? He demonstrated unwavering obedience. He faithfully followed God's call, even when it seemed unconventional or even weird.
This reminds us that true success is not always aligned with societal norms or personal ambitions. God's perspective may require us to step outside our comfort zones and embrace unpopular paths. It calls for faithfulness to his guidance, even when it doesn't align with our preconceived notions of achievement.
So, as we navigate our pursuits, let us reassess our definition of success and align it with God's perspective. Instead of solely seeking worldly recognition or conventional accomplishments, let us prioritize faithfulness to God's call, even when it leads us down unexpected paths.
Apply:
Ask God to show you where you can align with him today. Focus on faithfulness. What has he called you to do today?
Pray:
Jesus, guide me in your steps. Help me respond with unselfishness to your commands. In Jesus' name, Amen.
