Truth Amidst Deception
Read
Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
John 8:44 “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Think
Deception surrounds us in various forms, often subtly infiltrating our lives through media, relationships, and even our own thoughts. It's easy to become ensnared by falsehoods, gradually accepting them as truth. Satan, described as the father of lies, skillfully crafts these deceptions to lead us away from God's truth.
In this world filled with falsehoods, how do we discern truth from lies? Ephesians 6:11 calls us to equip ourselves with God’s armor, guarding against Satan's schemes. This armor includes the belt of truth, which refers to God's Word and his unchanging principles.
By spending time in God's Word, we will build a strong foundation that helps us recognize and resist deception. Scripture becomes our litmus test, a gauge that helps us measure every thought, belief, and influence against the truth of God's character and promises.
It is so important to use discernment, actively seeking God's wisdom in every decision and relationship. Like a skilled detective, we need to examine the evidence, question our assumptions, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us to the truth.
