Think
Throughout history, the name of Jesus has elicited reactions from profound reverence to intense resistance. His disciples, who witnessed his teachings and miracles firsthand, recognized his divinity. Before his ascension, Jesus entrusted them with an important directive: to disseminate his message of hope and salvation to the world.
Peter, a fisherman turned bold apostle, took this mission to heart. He fearlessly communicated this gospel to those who had once opposed Jesus, even attributing his crucifixion and death to their actions. His words served not only as a rebuke, but also as an invitation. He called for repentance, an acceptance of Jesus, and baptism. When the crowd heard this message, it changed the hearts of 3,000 people that day.
What an example Peter set for followers of Jesus to fearlessly communicate their own story and the message of the gospel to those they encounter daily. We are called to be like Peter, bold and courageous in sharing that same message of hope which we have experienced.
Apply
Take a moment to reflect on your journey with Christ. Are there areas in your life that still need transformation? If you have yet to accept Jesus as your Lord, consider what might be preventing you. On a practical level, consider one tangible way you can embody Peter's example this week. It could be sharing your testimony with a friend or showing an act of kindness to a stranger. If you have yet to accept Jesus as your Lord, consider what might be preventing you. He is ready, if you are.
Pray
Lord God, thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus, who sacrificed himself for my sins and promised me an eternal place in your presence. Align my heart with yours and give me the boldness and courage to share what you have done in my life with others. In Jesus' name. Amen.
