Think
"As I use my gifts, abilities, and money within the context of the local church, and as I give back to God what is his, God says, ‘Well done.’" – Pastor Ed Young
Everything we have—our time, talents, and resources—isn’t just for us. They’re gifts from God, entrusted to us to serve his purpose. The question isn’t, “What do I have?” but, “How am I using it for him?” When we embrace this mindset, we unlock the joy of living with eternal purpose.
Jesus’ parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 is a powerful reminder. The master entrusts his servants with resources, expecting them to use them wisely. Two invest what they’re given, multiplying its impact. But one buries his talent, paralyzed by fear and self-preservation. The master’s response is clear: those who faithfully use what they’re given are commended—“Well done, good and faithful servant.” But the one who hides his gift misses the purpose of why it was given.
A.W. Tozer once said, “God is looking for people through whom he can do the impossible. What a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.” God isn’t asking for perfection; he’s asking for faithfulness. He’s given you everything you need to make a difference, not by holding on tightly but by giving back boldly.
What’s in your hands right now? Maybe it’s a talent to lead, a voice to encourage, or resources to support others. Whatever it is, it was never meant to stay with you—it’s meant to flow through you. When you use what God has entrusted to you, whether in the local church or your community, you become part of something far greater than yourself.
One day, you’ll stand before God, and he won’t ask how much you had, but how you used what you were given. Live today so that you’ll hear him say, “Well done.” There is no greater joy than knowing you lived for his glory and impacted lives for eternity.
Apply
Pray for opportunities. Ask God daily to show you how to use what he’s entrusted to you for his glory. Be open to unexpected ways he might call you to give or serve.
Pray
God, thank you for all you’ve given me. Help me to use my gifts, abilities, and resources to bless others and honor you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
