Believe It
Read:
Philippians 4:8-9 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
Think:
How we think directs our world. The average person has about 70,000 thoughts per day, accumulating around 48 thoughts per minute. Approximately 95 percent of our thoughts today are identical to those of yesterday. To make matters worse, about 80 percent of those habitual thoughts are negative. Tens of thousands of negative thoughts swirl in our minds every day, destroying our outlook and poisoning our attitude. We need to change our thoughts! Thoughts drive feelings, and feelings drive actions.
If we spend time thinking about how we don’t measure up, we will feel like we don’t measure up and live without confidence in who we are. If we constantly think about our past mistakes rather than focusing on God’s grace and forgiveness, we will feel unloved and unforgivable. We will live a life disconnected from the love and acceptance He offers. Our thoughts can direct who we become. So we, according to Scripture, must take hold of our thoughts and plant the truth.
Application:
Expose negative thoughts. Take authority! Replace them with something that is true. (Example: Replace “No one really loves me” with “There are people who love me. But more importantly, I am loved by God.”)
Pray:
Father, thank You for Your grace, forgiveness and love. Help me recognize when I’m focusing on lies and bring to my mind the truth that is found in Your Word. Transform me from the inside out! Amen.
