Beyond The Candidate
Read
Daniel 6:10 "Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before."

Politics often feels like a game, with power and personal gain at the forefront. Leaders throughout history have sought control, sometimes at the expense of integrity. Adolf Hitler once said, "I recognize no moral law in politics," seeing it as a tool for manipulation. That mentality still lingers today, making voting feel like a frustrating process. But as believers, we have an opportunity to look beyond the surface when we vote—not just toward the person but toward the platform they stand for.
Daniel’s life gives us a clear example of what it means to navigate a corrupt political system with integrity. He didn’t align himself with the whims of political leaders; instead, he stood firm in his values, seeking God’s kingdom above all else. When others around him schemed and plotted, Daniel remained faithful to God, and in the end, his integrity was rewarded. His story reminds us that even in political games, we can make decisions that align with the values God calls us to—justice, truth, and compassion.
When we vote, it’s not just about picking the person who speaks the best or looks the part; it’s about considering the platform they represent and whether it reflects the values of God’s kingdom. Voting with wisdom means asking ourselves if the policies and direction they support align with biblical principles. Just as God guided Daniel in his turbulent political environment, he calls us to seek his guidance in our choices, trusting him with the outcome. Our vote can reflect more than politics—it can reflect our faith in action.
