Love’s Delight
Read
1 Corinthians 13:6 “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
Think
Love operates on a unique frequency when it encounters wrongdoing. It doesn't derive pleasure from hearing about evil or take joy in someone else's misfortune. Instead, true love grieves when others stumble or fall, and it actively seeks their restoration. In a world where gossip and negativity are prevalent, love sets itself apart by refusing to indulge in spreading lousy news or finding satisfaction in the downfall of others.
Yet, within the realm of love, there exists a delicate balance. While it embodies kindness and forgiveness, love also upholds the truth and doesn't ignore sin. Love courageously addresses wrongdoing with sensitivity and compassion. Though confrontation may be challenging, love compels us to correct and guide others because it genuinely cares for their well-being. Love's focus is not on pointing out faults but on celebrating spiritual victories and growth.
As expressed by John in 3 John 4, there is no greater joy than witnessing others walk in the truth and reflect the character of Jesus. Love rejoices in seeing others flourish spiritually, witnessing their growth and progress in their faith journey. It becomes a source of encouragement and support, celebrating every small step forward and offering assistance during times of struggle. Love's joy isn't found in judgment but in the triumph of truth and the growth of those we deeply care about.
