Obviously
Read:
John 8:7 “When they had kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ‘Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.’”
Romans 6:14 “For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”
Think:
A large crowd eagerly waited in the early morning for a young rabbi. His name was Jesus, and He came in with this raggedy bunch of followers. The group was leaning in to His teaching when a racket in the corner caused everyone to turn. Another group of well-dressed religious leaders sauntered in, dragging a disheveled woman by her long hair. They accused this scantily-clad woman of adultery. Meanwhile, Jesus was kneeling, writing in the dust. He challenged her accusers, who wanted her stoned, “If you are without sin, then grab a stone and throw it!” One by one, they left until it was only Jesus and the woman. Jesus spoke to her of courage and change. He gave her the well-known words, “Go and sin no more,” as empowerment to be different! Jesus gave her the power of choice. He looked at this obviously guilty woman with mercy and grace. He spoke with forgiveness, with freedom.
Because of Jesus, the power of sin is broken. Because of Jesus, the chains of the past have no hold. You are free! Go and sin no more.
Act:
You have been forgiven. Act like it. Confess and then walk in freedom.
Pray:
Jesus, give me the strength to walk in freedom. Help me to receive Your mercy. Amen
