Prepare
Read
Psalm 78:4-6 “We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.”
Think
Are you familiar with the age-old wisdom encapsulated in the saying, "Prepare the child for the road, not the road for the child"? This quote encourages a shift in perspective – away from the notion of eliminating every obstacle and making the path ahead entirely smooth for our children. Instead, it encourages us to focus on arming them with the skills and resilience essential for navigating the inevitable twists and turns of life.
Our goal is not merely to provide our children with a knowledge of God, but to foster a deep connection with him; it can even extend beyond our generation. We aspire to see them as torchbearers of this wisdom, entrusted with the responsibility of passing it on to future generations. In this way, we equip them to ensure that the legacy of faith and wisdom endures, transcending the confines of time. We demonstrate the gospel, we speak it, we kindle a fire in our children that will spread throughout future generations.
