Tap Into It
Read:
Ephesians 3:8 “To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”
Think:
In the year 1931, during the depths of the Great Depression in the United States, resided a man named F.K. Lathrop in East Texas. Like many struggling individuals of that era, Mr. Lathrop worked as a laborer, grappling to make ends meet on his meager weekly paycheck, striving to support his family.
Employed at a local plow company, his earnings were modest. The ground beneath him was arid and unyielding, making it challenging even to locate a source of water. However, one ordinary day, his drilling efforts unearthed more than just a solution to quench his family's immediate thirst. Hidden beneath the rocky soil, Mr. Lathrop discovered crude oil—an
extraordinary secret that would secure his family's financial well-being for generations to come.
The oil well soon began yielding an astonishing 30,000-40,000 barrels per day. Promptly selling the well for a staggering sum of $3.5 million, Mr. Lathrop walked into his job and resigned without hesitation.
In many ways, our lives today mirror this story. Often, we fail to tap into the vast riches found in Jesus and his Word. We merely scratch the surface of what is available, neglecting to communicate with Jesus or immerse ourselves in his love letter to us. As a result, we fail to live victoriously. Merely reading the Bible or praying is insufficient; we must allow the Scriptures to convict and transform us. In doing so, the Word teaches, encourages, and anchors our hope in the Lord. It empowers us to walk in truth and make decisions aligned with God's principles.
