What Is Success?
Read
Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Think
Tim Tebow said, “Success comes in a lot of ways, but it doesn’t come with money, and it doesn’t come with fame. It comes from having meaning in your life, doing what you love, and being passionate about what you do. That’s having a life of success.”
In the quest for more, losing sight of our purpose is easy. We often find ourselves bombarded with advice, job offers, and promotions. But we are not helpless victims of fate. We can choose what aligns with our uniqueness, our God-given gifts, and our life’s calling from God.
As the saying goes, “Even if you sleep in a thousand-mat room, you can only sleep on one mat.” This Japanese proverb is a poignant reminder that true success isn’t about titles or paychecks. The one advantage people with titles and paychecks have over those who don’t is that they know that fulfillment cannot be found in those things.
Before you rush into a new job title or chase after worldly success, take a moment to evaluate your perspective on life. Are you leveraging your God-given talents? Are you doing those things at which you excel? Success, in its most accurate form, comes from embracing your unique gifts and using them to honor God and guide others toward Jesus. So, don’t be swayed by the allure of more. Stay grounded in your purpose, lean into your talents, and let your life be a testament to God’s glory.
Apply
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Identify your strengths, talents, and passions. Consider how these abilities can be used to serve others and honor God. Think about past experiences where you felt fulfilled and made an impact, and look for opportunities to use your gifts and talents.
Pray
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of life and purpose. Help me align my life with your plan. Show me the unique gifts and talents you have given me to glorify and honor you; give me the courage to use them boldly for you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
